A Hard and Heavy Burden

Lemme tell you why you go to bed every night feeling like a failure and disappointment.

It’s because you’re serving the world instead of serving King Jesus.

Jesus says in Matthew 11:30, “For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Is that how things feel right now? Light and easy?

Probably not.

So, then, let’s look at the opposite of light and easy because that’s what we’re carrying.

Heavy and hard.

Wanna know what’s heavy to carry and hard to live under?

The weight and expectations of the world.

The reason you’re so tired and exhausted and burned out and feel like a failure and disappointment is because you’re trying to be who the world wants you to be and do what the world wants you to do instead of being who the Lord made you to be and doing what He’s asked you to do.

What does the world want from you?

To fit in.

To be perfect.

To work hard.

But not too much.

To take care of you.

But don’t be selfish.

To look a certain way.

No, not like that.

To be kind.

Except to those people.

To be authentic.

But don’t complain.

Sound familiar?

So what has the Lord asked you to do?

Love the Lord.

Love others.

That’s it.

If you can go throughout your day loving the Lord, seeking Him, talking to Him, being who He created you to be, doing what He’s asked you to do, and BELIEVING that He loves you, too, you’ll stop feeling like a failure and disappointment. You’ll feel more peace, more joy, more stability because you’re walking with Him.

And, honestly, loving the Lord and loving others is such a complex and time-consuming mission that it will keep you so busy you won’t even have time to worry about what the world is asking of you. You’ll just be delighted to wake up every day and say, “I love you, Lord. What’s the plan today?”
